As title, when winding up my drivers (RHD) electric window, it won't stop pushing when it gets to the top. If I hold the button too long it makes a horrible "thunk thunk thunk" noise. '98 Disco 1

Seems that you may have an iffy window regulator, as that’s where’s the noise would be coming from.
With the auto assending function the glass has to go fully to the top before the motor stops, maybe the regulator is stopping the glass doing that.
Other than that ECU may not be receiving the signal to stop from the motor.
You’ll have to remove the door card to find out.
