Hi All,
Help needed please.
Recently cleaned and under sealed my 2003 Discovery 2 and then left the car unlocked in a compound for a couple of days, When I came to try to use the car the new ish battery was flat, not sure why but it was totally flat.
So I charged the battery and tried to start the car, Nothing, Dead as a Dodo.
So make enquires and visited my local dealer to get the EKA code to re-boot the car
After using the code following all the handbook instructions the car now starts, locks and un-lockes with the key but will not lock or un-lock using the keyfob.
I have changed the battery in the fob but still nothing.
Has anyone had this before and have an answer to my problem Please?

Hi,

Does the little red light work on your fob? when you press a button for lock and unlock?

Do you know someone with a nanocom, they can then verify if the fob is recognised by the car, / if the car sees the fob sending a signal / if the car has lost the sync for the fob.

Could be your RF receiver is knackered, This is in front of the rear sunroof under the roof lining. May be worth checking the connections and earth as they can get wet and corrode. A replacement is plug and play.

Hi,
Yes the light on the fob is working.
I don't know of anyone with a Nanocom, Is this something I should maybe have in my tool box?
I'll check out the receiver connections.

Hi ,

Nanocom is a diagnostics unit, not cheap, Sometimes they come up second hand on here, There is also hawkeye and Lynx, But I am not sure of the capabilities of these.
The nanocom can also if needed program the car to accept a new fob from the 6 digit code on the label inside the fob.

Check your RF receiver first, be gentle getting to it under the roof lining. Some people recommend trying to dry them out on a radiator. They are cheap if it is a problem.

Checked out the receiver visually, no traces of water or moisture at all

If you know someone else with another D2, maybe you could be cheeky and ask to borrow their RF receiver........

Worth disconnecting and reconnecting just to check that it is not a dodgy joint including the earth.

Don't know any other owners so that's a non starter.
I will take more of the liner down and do a better check.
I can't help but think it has something to do with the input of the EKA code, seems too coincidental.
All these gaggets are great when working but a pain when not.

The EKA code overrides the alarm and immobiliser.

If your fob does not work , it cannot switch the alarm and immobiliser off. This is why you use the EKA code.

Got it.
I have a spare key somewhere, I need to find it and try it I guess first.?
Maybe the receiver went short circuit and flattened the battery? Possibility?
