Some little scrots (maybe large scrots aswell) have had a go at stealing my Disco 1

The good news is they didn't get it......the bad news is the immobiliser won't work. I suspect it's because they cut the wires to the siren to aid a silent theft.

My problem is that the 4 wires, which have been cut, leading into the connector block are all black with no discerning differences that I can see at first and second glance.

Is there anyway of telling which one is which by use of impedences or voltages etc...?

Sorry for the question....I have searched quite a lot and can't find anything that will help

Which is which I don't know but you will have a perminant 12v charging votage fo the sirens battery which must be iffy as the siren should have sounded as soon as the wires were cut.
There will also be a sence wire to activate the siren in an alarm condition (maybe 12v or 0v), a wire for the mis-lock sound and an earth thats the four basic wires required.
Have u look for any fuses blown.

Getting that siren - its called a BBUS,(Battery Backed Up Sounder) is not going to get your car going again.Something else is wrong/disconnected etc.
The BBUS on mine has been disconnected for several years,so if you set the alarm off by accident it just flashes the hazards,but does not annoy the neighbours.
From memory the only possible disadvantage to having it disconnected is that it may refuse to accept an EKA code entry.Does the car lock/unlock on the fobs ?

Thanks for replying Eightinavee...sounds like I have more than one problem here. No it doesn't lock/unlock on the fobs and I tried the EKA code entry procedure last night and it didn't work...as you suggest.

I haven't got time to go to work anymore. The Series 2a needs a new brake master cylinder, the 90 has a bizzare situation where the clutch seems to be sticking to the flywheel making gear changes only possible on a geological timescale and now this....gees.

Tempting to dump the EDC ECU and fit a proper mech pump...there seem to be a lot more fixes for the mech pump security system

Right, update....Discool, spot on mate the 12v feed narrowed things down belled out the earth/negative and managed to get the rest all in the correct order. Brilliant

THEN, Eightinavee was spot on aswell, BBUS battery buggered (good) and after I had reconnected it correctly I was able to enter the EKA

So it looks like the key fob is buggered which I'll get sorted on Monday from the Stealers

I'm obligued to you both...Not since Sticky the stick insect got stuck to a sticky bun have I been in such a sticky situation!
