I have ended up buying a new air compressor it is supplying air, but will not go from low to normal speed.
The light is solid on low and just keeps flashing on normal height. The compessor wont stop and gets very hot.
Do I need to refurbish the valve block.

How old are the air springs? They are the usual culprits, they have a 7/8 year 80K miles design life.
A failing air dryer can gum up the valve block which will also produce the same symptoms as can a failed diaphragm in the valve block.
You can overhaul your compressor for about £30 or less if it doesn't need a cylinder.

Check the diaphragm valve, details on this are in my EAS post in tech archive, think i pointed you in that direction before. Either this is faulty or you have a bad air leak elsewhere.

I have a spare valve block and a set of seals etc, so I will try that tomorrow and see what happens.

Odd how P38 owners have a stack of spares handy. Good job the missus doesn't hoover under the bed very often.
