Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

I have a 2000 P38 RR 4.6V8 Petrol

I will start from the beginning, on my way home last night and just pulling up our street the EAS fault message come up on the dash, all four lights were flashing on the suspension height selector.

Had a quick look when I got on the driveway and the suspension was at access height.

Sunday morning, got ready for a wet day working on the car, first thing I did was to make sure the compressor was running, indeed it runs fine, so I my dad came over with his diagnostic adaptor, I plugged my lap top in and it came up with fault code

RR Valve Stuck Open.

I can't find any reference online to what this means, does anyone know, have any experience with this fault code.

So I have put some non return valves on the air lines that go into the block and pumped the suspension up with a compressor manually, I have also disconnected the on board compressor so it does not burn out, if the suspension stays up I may well drive the car to work, not sure yet if it's worth risking it.

So if anyone could help me out with the fault code mentioned above I can start looking to fixing her and getting the old girl back on the road.

Well you should have been able to reset and clear the fault ??? Would it not work ??

I did clear the fault code, I started the engine but the suspension would not go up. So as I say I used a compressor and manually pumped up the suspension, it seems to be still up after a couple of hours, if I can figure out what the fault code means then I can get it sorted.

Unless it means just what it says, is there a valve stuck open on the valve block, would explain why it was down to access height and will not pump up, don't really want to start guessing.

UPDATE......

Rear driver side has gone down quite a bit, so ..... I will mix up some soapy water and start looking for leaks on that air bag.

Would still like to know what that fault code means though if anyone has any clues.

Just because the compressor is running does not mean it is producing good air. Do the checks in my EAS how to. Valve stuck open usually means an expected action has not taken place in a time span. Was that the only fault recorded?

Hi Wammers, that did cross my mind with the compressor one thing I'll check whilst I'm messing with it all, that was the only fault code on screen, thanks for the answer on that dude, leak detection is my next course of action.

As Wammers says, if the compressor is not producing enough air the valve will be stuck open because it'll be stuck open waiting for air that never arrives!

Hi all,

Quick update to put this one to bed, I went to my dads as he has a set of ramps, I pumped the suspension bags up as much as possible and checked everything for an air leak, couldn't find anything so dropped off the ramps, checked where I fitted the valves on the air lines and sure enough one of the lines had air leaking so that solved that mystery, next I checked the compresser and I can pump more air from my arse with a good fart than the compressor could produce.

Found a good video on YouTube which shows you how to strip and refurbish the compressor and I will try and post some pictures but the small o ring was flat and the piston seal was knackered.

I've ordered a rebuild kit and cleaned all the parts of the compressor ready for reassemble.
