reeet heres a quick breif

ive applied for the v5 from the dvla and they have replied with we are not telling you the reg nor giving the v5 due to you not putting the reg on the application form

i either have to send the form back with the reg number on it wich is me first option and favoured one due to less hastle and money involved

or i can send the form back with a second form they have supplied stating i dont know the reg and theyll get the local DVLA office to tell me when i can take it in for a full AVI test to prove its a complete vehicle for a nominal fee of £45 non returnable weather i get to keep the vehicle or not due to its circumstances

wich all leads me to the question
is there anything /any one or anywhere i can use my chassis number to find out the reg of the bugger :confused::confused:

this at the moment has led me to 2 conclusions
1
this vehicle is the soddemised leftovers after ringing it into a younger vehicle or
2
i might as well have just rung the fukker in the first place and saved a **** load of bother and stress and the dvla arent doing anything to help someone who is doing this as honest as possible but let obvious ringers such as the ones sometimes on ebay just get ignored

Can't offer any help but i know from experience on other issues that the DVLA are a bunch of jobsworth cnuts.
They are on a Parr to building regulations IMO(getting sh1t from them at the mo):mad::mad:

it aint the Regs guys who are bad its the feckin Planning officers who want a slap... :)
What ya prob with Regs guys then.....they normally only get upset if you are trying to bend the rules.:D

the other option which is a long shot. would be to apply for a heritage cerfificate from the Heritage Motor Centre which will costs ya £47.

Heritage Certificate Re-Issue & Technical Specification

Once you have the Reg number you can apply for a duplicate log book.
DVLA then right to the previous registered keeper to check they no longer have the V5 prior to issue to you. Simples :rolleyes:

the heritage centre can only give the vehicle build dates and vehicle status and dispatch destination from the landrover factory not the registration as that was done at whatever dealership dealt with the vehicle sale

the police cannot find the reg from the chassis number as the nice lady behind the counter in the local nick said the database only works reg to vin not the other way round but there is a database function in the pipeline

its a can of worms this is mate :eek::eek::eek:
 
What comes up if you ask your friendly mot man to enter chassis number
 
ive done an online HPI and it came back with the vehicle description such as

engine size n fuel type
colour
make model wheelbase
intended market

the usual bumf

also the vehicle

has not been scrapped
not been exported
not stolen
not written off ( total loss)
no outstanding debt

but no mention of date of last liability
no reg number
this is doing my head in as it was a waste of another £35

showed the coppers the forms and letters gone back and forth with the DVLA and they looked disgusted and said thats typical of them

they also said theres no way of getting the reg from the chassis number and told me to play their game but im fooked if im forkin out more money to them lousy twots :mad::mad::mad:
 
Looks like DVLA are going to be cnuts, they managed to sort my driving licence out in 3 days- but took 6 months to sort a van out
 
Would it not be possible to find out from LR themselves ? I know its a long shot idea but it would seem like the only way and you have all the other paperwork too

Erm, when I entered someone's vin number into the relevant section in Microcat, it showed me the reg number, which happened to be the wrong one for that particvular car (it's been on at least two private plates) so I assumed it had been re-registered at some stage.

Basically, what I'm saying is, try Microcat if it's a landy. I'm not sure if the older versions do this, but certainly the latest one I have does (Jan 2012) If you want me to try it PM me the vin no.

Yep, just tried it with my own chassis number, but I did need to put the entire thing in and it gave me my reg no.

I`m having bother with DVLA too,I tried to tax it at my local road tax office here in Northern Ireland but firstly the vendor I got it off in England didn`t give me proper mot cert he gave me a printout from Direct Gov website which they will not accept, secondly I only got just the new keeper part off registration book which they won`t accept as swansea has not received new owner details.Any ideas how I can resolve this,how long should it take swansea to change the details and post me the new reg document.

the printout thing must have a serial number on it from the MOT station that done the original test if its genuine wich then you need to contact the MOT station and ask them to provide you with a copy of the original test certificate

if this is not possible then the only other option is to take the motor in for a retest ( doing this you could get lucky and the tester will tell if its got a current MOT if it has he can give you a certificate )

on the swansea part of it they normally take anything between 3 and 6 weeks to send out the new logbook if it doesnt arrive on time give the fukkers a call and start badgering them ( they soon got sick of my voice evry day ) :D:D:D
 
It must be tempting to buy another wrecked landy and bang the number on it. No wonder folk get ****ed off with these jobsworths. Looks like you are going to just play their costly game Johnny. Good luck anyway M8ey.
