Have searched and found info on changing the drop links, which looks fairly straight forward, so gonna have a play with that tomorrow........Would somebody be kind enough to advise what the other arm attached to the suspension leg is and is difficult to replace? Might as well go the whole hog.

That's the track rod end for the steering

steering arm ,if you undo nut on ball joint and whack end of the arm (not joint) hard it will stretch taper and allow joint to pop out if you swap ball joint you need to check length as it is adjustable to set tracking

Many thanks for the info.
I have never been that confident with the spanners, but it is very satisfying to be working on the FL1 and saving money by not using garages.
I will check both sides for play in the joints at the same time as doing the links.

Hi Guys. I am about to do this job for the 1st time too. Is it worth taking it into a tyre place to get the tracking checked after the replacement work is done. Tracking is not something I understand.

No,

If you just do the drop links the tracking will not be changed.

if you change the steering joint ,to be 100% right you should get tracking checked after , but many just get away with measuring or counting turns it will be close if not exact

I think I will get it checked anyway to be on The safe side I need to put winters on anyway. So I can get them to sort out the tracking at the same time.

Worth checking if you think it's out but don't get conned. James is talking about the track rod not the drop links
