:doh:please.please can someone help,once again my RR 4.6 on a 97 plate has locked me out.I'm partially to blame I had a freind replace my dying battery whilst working away.unfortunetly he changed it as though it was a normal car,when I got home and tried to start it[you guessed it]it wanted the EKA ,no problem I thought and started to enter it.On completion I opened the door turned on the ignition only to be faced with the alarm and several warning codes,I closed the door and tried again this time at the end, it seemed the lock mechanism had stuck between open and closed and after many many attempts, I got the AA to get me in, via the tail gate. Now I have partial access to the lock mechaism but try as I might I cant open the drivers door.My feeling is that the door lock has failed which is making it impossible to enter the EKA, catch 22 if you like.Do'es any one have a magic remedy or better still is anyone close to Skelmersdale,I would gladly pick you up and pay you to end this lockout nightmare
 
Sounds like the spring has gone, common fault on these locks. Easy enough to replace (parts on ebay) for the mean time, just pull the lock bar up (that connects to the button)
 
yeah thanks auto i've tried pulling all the levers and bars to no avail.I swear if you needed an impregnable safe then a range rover security system beats fort knox. Thanks for your imput though

well thats good you don't have to worry about the pikey's, ha maybe hire one of the to open your range rover:hysterically_laughi:hysterically_laughi
 
Is it not possiable to open from inside or out side? sounds like the dreaded "superlock" burnt out latch motor.
 
No James cant open the door at all I can get in via the passenger door lower the window and pull the door card back to expose the lock but all manner of attack wont unlock it.Doug I think you could be on the right track,any ideas to get around it,i'm thinking the only way will have to be distructive but only as a last resort.Thanks anyway.
 
Two choices if your lock has failed. cut the metal latch or smash the lock. I had this about 3 weeks agao. I had to break the lock through the window gap which takes about two mins to do and then replace the lock mech. Island 4x4 is the cheapest place for a new lock.
 
or take the back door off to give you access to the striker.protect bodywork with duck tape,use angle grinder to cut front of striker and a NEW hacksaw blade to cut the rear,doesnt take long.Open door,remove card
 
Cheers Dean it looks like the only way is to smash the lock mechanism,is there any particular area to attack or do I just kick the s##t out of it all.tomcat thanks for your advise but I cant open the rear doors either.
 
Tape your window up first to avoid damage. Use a torch to look down through the gap you will see the plastic latch. At the top there is a flat bit. hit it hard with a sharp long rod to crack and breakaway the top housing to release the superlock. It really is very easy and quick to unlock. The hard bit is paying for a new lock at £106 plus vat!
 
Hi dean, I've got a 2000 disco and I'm super locked out. I just read your reply about the clip and now I'm wondering if I can do that on my disco. Seems the drivers side door lock is broke and just spins 360 degrees doing nothing. Any help to get in would be great and I'd be thank full. Freightliner
