ok so i am going after a 2001-2002 60 70 000 odd miles dhse all being well
have asked the guy who looks after my defender and her indoors disco to look out for one for me
so what do i have to look out for, he says the diff beetween a vogue and a hse is allmost nothing. also have read a bit about chiping where do i get one from how much etc
as much advice please

YOUR MECHANIC WAS QUITE RIGHT IN THAT THERE ARE ONLY A FEW TINY DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE VOGUE AND THE DHSE.

You can get a chip of the internet.
There are lots of companys that sell them.
There are usually about 3 types of chip.
1. replacement chip itself( requires you to remove old chip from ecu and replace with this one)NOT SURE ON COST OR WHO DOES THEM.

2. Hard wire performance box( this is usually a box about 4 inch by 2 inch by 1 inch and it has about 9 or 10 wires that require splicing into the ecu.
TRY DRAGON PERFORMANCE FOR THIS ONE, I THINK THERE ABOUT 200 QUID but remember you may need a competent auto electrician to install it.
3.Plug and play unit, same size box as previous but easier to install as it comes with male and female connectors that just plug into existing connections. usually about 350 quid.TRY TUNNIT THERE ON THE NET AS ARE DRAGON PERFORMANCE.

I was lucky as i bought a second hand plug and play of ebay.

There is a company out there called ALLARD and they can install a new chip and upgrade the intercooler so you will push 200 horse and over.
I think its about 900 quid but they do a proper job.

Oh and finally I bought a K and N air filter of the net and that also increased the performance and economy. before I installed filter and chip i was getting about 27 to the gallon (on a good day) now I get 32 to the gallon and its hilly where i live.
