Hi guys
Back again! I've just trawled through the posts about dog guards, but of course I'm confused, again! Seems that looking through the dog guards on offer, they are different for the different models, that makes sense. So as i have a 110 County, looks like I need the funny shaped one that does from top to floor? Just want to keep the dog in the back, safe. And hopefully some of the dog hair too! Anyone recommend a decent one, the small mesh, not the silly tubular thing that falls over! Guess I could ask my son to make one for me, surely can't be that difficult, can it? Thanks again.

Depends how big your dog is, but I got a new cargo net from a discovery for a few quid on ebay. Fastened to the head rests on the front seats at two corners, and to the tie-down rings at the floor behind the front seats in the other two corners (in the defender). Fits in a few seconds, is all elasticated with plastic hooks. Keeps my small dog (cocker) in the rear no problem.

Thanks. Er - he's a pretty boisterous and quite naughty! Springer, left with me by my daughter when she emigrated. He may need to spend a few hours at a time in the car so I can keep him with me, so need the solid one from floor to ceiling!

I think you would be better with a cage. Your dog will be safer, you will retain some luggage space and they are a lot cheaper than a proper dog guard. Easier to fit and remove too using small ratchet straps.

I worked for an engineering firm called athag ltd,they made dog guards and gates and dividers and as far as I know are still making them under the"guardsman" brand,check them out.

i used the really cheap one out of a 3dr and welded on a bit of threaded bar on the top with a 90 degree bend on it to fit into the existing mounts.

the 3dr guards are ten a penny

I cut some netting to shape, ran some stretchy cord around the outside. Fitted some small d-rings (actually picture hooks) to my side panel and near the floor and the net joins those with small crabs. I have a rather active Houdini cocker and and silly cockerpoo that like nothing more than sitting on the front seat (or my lap). This has stopped them. The other benefit is a couple of seconds and it's down should I need to get something long in the back
