Hi,

I have found these headlamps in Turkey question is will it fit my Right hand drive disco 2004 landmark. And will it have the correct beam pattern for the French contrôle technique?

Part number XBC501510 it says for left hand drive vehicles only. Matching lamp for right side is XBC501500

The price is €228,91...! A world apart for the €1000 i have seen for second hand in France.

They dont have them in stock 😂🙌
Asking again, did you hear from Rob? I, in your situation, would try and see if you can find at least one Disco1 or early Disco2 light and see if you can make it fit. You'd maybe have to fab up or obtain light surround etc, but if it gets you a Carte Grise?

Hi mate,

Yes I have spoke to Rob. Im waiting to hear if he knows a way to modify to use a different model light.

Thanks
Good. I think to do a neat modification you will need to obtain the headlights surrounds and possibly other bits too that go on the front.

Thanks, im going to try and avoid mods by finding a pair of lights suitable at a resonable price. I have a guy with access to lights second hand but there is many options and trying to work out which ones are correct.

It's much bigger work than it appears, grille and side finishers + separate indicators, levelling motors and wiring mods for that, welding and grinding as well, at the end it can be beneficial cos those lamps are not chased by thiefs and even if they are hurt are quite cheap by new and way much simpler to replace bulbs

Thanks do you know someone that can help me do the work in France??

I had a closer look at mine this morning and I even got to the point of thinking it might need a new bonnet.

I'll be honest with you, people over here don't really modify their cars as it is sooo illegal. You will be breaking type spec for the model. No mech will want that hanging over them. After an accident I had a job persuading a mech to mend a mount for a suspension mounting piece by simply bending it back into place and welding a large washer where the hole had originally been. It wasn't even load bearing or tensioned or anything. In the end they did it because they were doing it on a British car!

I think if you are going to go down that road, you need to get the whole front end bits that are different, and corners, off Rob or someone and put them all on. As @sierrafery said, there are quite a lot of bits that are different. Without parking an early Disco 2 in front of yours I wouldn't know which bits need changing, and until you start taking them off you won't know whether the original mounts will still be there, or even places to put them.

Can you weld and do you have some gear? Is there a classic car restoration place in Grenoble? If so they are the sort of place that just might be willing to take it on, but they'll probably be pricey.

Hi, I appreciate the kind offer of trying tp help. But Im not going to go down that route.

Im exhausting all avenue's for a European set of lights and if not the car is going back to England to be sold.

Many thanks,
