Increasing power WON'T increase mpg's ... Increasing torque might, but it'll definitely help towing. All an increase in power will do is increase speed.
For towing you want better low down and midrange rather than top end.
If mapping to increase torque and power and improve MPG was in anyway possible. Land rover would have given you an extra 100 BHP doubled the torque and 50 MPG. What a selling point that would have been.
