I think i have read enough to believe i can swap the compressor over with my limited skills and on rangerover.net it says that it can be done without depressurising the system so i just want to check with you guys before i do it.....is it an easy job?

Had diagnosis tonight by mechanic as my EAS takes up to 40 mins to raise but i get no fault messages at all, had new airbags not so long ago so after bypassing the thermal cut out (or something) he said compressor worked quicker but still not quick enough so he said a new compressor is required.

i think mine has the original compressor on it.
 
Open the box
Undo electrical connector
Undo three nuts
Undo pipe connector
then reverse to fit the new one

Seriously - it's that easy
 
Cheers Dogsbody so i don't need to worry about pressure, it will still be in the system when i put the new one on?
 
The pressure is held on the valves in the valve block, so no need to worry about back pressure....

Might be a tiny hiss when you disconnect the blue tube, but it would be like a gnats fart honestly....

I hope he didn't leave it like that? Why would you want to introduce a fire risk to an already obviously malfunctioning system? :confused:
 
I did mine just recently, but found out it was the diaphragm, when i changed that it was all up and working, so if you get no joy from the pump then you know what to look for next

There are ways of checking pump delivery and diaphragm, post on here by myself many times. Think i would rather do them and find out what is wrong before spending money on a compressor when it's a simple diaphragm change that's needed.

It takes 40 minutes to raise? How much does it drop overnight? Sounds to me like it's leaking air somewhere. Since I overhauled the valve block mine barely drops even after 2 or 3 days. Compressor may well be shot as well if it's fighting a leak:eek:
 
It wasn't dropping at all Dalatek unless i parked it half on kerb and it self levelled itself..

New compressor on this morning and all seems well. Thank you very much for your help fellas. Much appreciated.

However, and as is usually the case with me (heavy handed bastard) i sheared off one of three retaining bolts by overtightening when refitting the new part, so now i have two holding the compressor (one at each end) so should i look to replace the whole case or will it be ok with two? Or do the bolts remove without taking the case off?

All three?? Ham and fist come to mind. They just need a very slight nip no more.
