Can any one tell me where the jack is located on a 1996 discovery?

Lift bonnet .. look just behind the left hand (on the right as you look
rearwards from the front) headlight .. mine's coloured browny/orange and is
held by a velcro'd strap to the radiator side and front frame ..

It tells you exactly in the Handbook ..

Normally, hiding under the wheel chock. The handle(s) should be in a
bag (along with the roof rails and wheel brace) under the drivers side
rear seat.
