hi i am new to the forum and have 1990, 90.
I have a chance to buy some alloy wheels from a discovery 1 with nearly new tyres and was wondering if the wheels would fit my 1990, 90 without much modification, has anyone ever done this.

any help much appreciated.

you will need new wheel nuts as the nuts for alloys are totally different to the ones for steelies ;)

It's a commonly asked question, but I'm afraid that they won't fit. The hubs became compatible in 1993 following the intro of rear disc brakes on Defender.

There is an alternative which I put onto my old 1989 90. Nene valley off road sell Firestyle wheels, these will fit the earlir hubs and look like this. These also have a centre ap to go over the sticky-out half shaft end caps.

Posted at the same time Yella Fella! The Defender was much the same as the previous 90/110/127, bar the Tdi engine. More significant mehanical changes happened in 1993 with the 300tdi and 1998 with the intro of Td5.
