Hi all..
Ive got a discovery 300tdi.. failed its MOT last week on front inner wheel arches..
Anyway.. friend of mine has cut out rust and welded in some new metal.. however in doing so we had a very small fire in the passengers foot well!!.
..
The welding caused the top corner of the soundproofing to catch alight right near where the wiring loom goes through the bulkhead under the dash..
The fire was burning for about 20 seconds .. i pulled the carpet and sound proofing out and taken the passenger foot well kick panel off and can see that the loom has suffered abit in that the plastic around about 6 wires has melted.. the wires still look in tact..
And so.. i need to get the loom pulled back so that i can seperate the wires, check them and tape them where needed..
I have disconnected all the plugs in the engine bay on the passengers side and the loom can now be pushed back through the bulkhead.. however from inside the foot well the loom does not want to move very far.. looks like its behind lots of stuff behind the glove box..
Anyway.. is there a connection plug to the rest of the loom anywhere near there.. is is the loom an all in one job..
Any tips of getting the loom out far enough to be able to repair/tape it??.
Thanks for any help you can give..
Cheers
Steve
