I am looking at fitting a discovery 2 body onto a discovery 1 chassis. I know its been done before but I want to know everything that needs to be done before comitting to buying a disco 2 body.
I have just bought a rotten discovery 1 chassis and engine are in good condition so I will keep those. I am looking at swapping a D2 body as it is much more rust proof and I live on an islsnd where rust is inevitable and rust free or almost rust free D1s are impossible to find.
Has anyone here ever done something similar and is willing to maybe expalin to me what work will need to be done?

Been through everything google search has given, thats how I ended up on this forum :p.
I know that the easier way to do this it to:
keep the 300 tdi cluster
Swap the pedal box from the 300 tdi disco
Front and rear body mounts should line up
Center body mounts need to be cut and rewelded and spacers must be added.
Rear bumper will need modification. I intend to do a custom metal rear bumper so thats not as much of a concern.
Keeping all the inside electronics of the disco 2 is the easiest option.

Somethings im still questioning is for example how the 300 gearbox and transfer case line up with the disco 2 body, will the leavers sit too far forward or backwards?
Thats the reason for this post, just to make sure that Im thinking of everything that will need to be done to make this happen.
 
The LRO mag did a piece in the magazine in the early 2000s so way before forums.
I expect a few of the other LR mag at the time did as well, but my subscription was with LRO from 1987 after I purchased my new RR
