Greetings,
Thought I'd open up a thread chronicling the epic that my brother in-laws boot floor is turning in to
This is as it was:
Spent a day last weekend removing the fuel tank, which involved removing the rear bumper so I could get to the top tow-bar bolts, and then having to hack-saw off the bolts holding the tow-bar arms to the chassis. The shank of these bolts is still in there, and I haven't got around to blasting them with a blow torch and trying to drift 'em out yet.
Yesterday, I had an epic day drilling out spot welds, and grinding out some of the rot on the side panels. This is what I'm left with as we speak
the old one:
A bit concerned about the rot in the rear corner under the quarter panel here. Too close to the fold down seat seat-belt mount I think. I might remove those seats, as they're totally un-needed. I think I'll have to remove the seat-belt mounts too. Any tips on doing this? I really really don't want to have to remove the quarter panel
I might be within 30cm of the body mount too. What a pain in the arse :/
Also got a bit of rot at the top corner post on the other side. I don't think this is an MOT fail, but I'm not happy about it.
Need to sort out rear nearside inner wheel arch and a couple of patches on both from inner wheel arches too, and then I think it might get through an MOT. We'll see
