Had a disco 2 a few months, can't put it in first gear unless it's at a stand still which is really inconvenient.. is this a normal thing?

Always had the same issue with mine, I've just got used to it now even after fitting a new master & slave cylinder, DM flywheel and clutch, it's still the same.

Glad it's not just me then lol if you time it just right it goes In, just had a new clutch and DM fly wheel put in and nope still no change, was hoping someone knows if this can be helped or if it's just another Land Rover thing

TBH, I don't really use 1st gear much anymore unless it's a hill-start, by the time the car is moving, it's time to change to 2nd anyway

Yeah I try used it as little as possible, but sometimes it can be a right pain in the arse. It's only cause my father drove it this weekend just gone and I forgot too tell him about it, was hoping there was a fix

IF there is a fix to the 'problem', then I'm sure one of the more mechanically minded members will be along shortly.

if its actually fully selecting ie lever moving fully forward, and it stands still its likely dog teeth ring has sheared off the gear ,only a rebuild will fix that
