I did a thread long ago, regarding a big bang, found out that the transfer box had sheared off it mounts. Cost a bomb!
I think i know why this happened but im not too hot on how the 4wd system works, but the rear diff is not dis engaging, and is trying to rip my box out every time i go round tight corners.

Is this a common problem,and if so, can i t be repaired and how do you go about repairing it.

Sounds familiar, do a search for posts on vcu failure. You could remove your propshaft to prevent damaging your transfer box again!

i've had a quote in the region of £200.00 to have it overhauled,
this is by a LR And 4WD specialist service outfit.
i think thats really fair, and all the staff drive LR'S so i'm happy taking it there.
Your problem is opposite, but judging from the replies i got when enquiring on my problem, DON'T drive it and get it sorted as soon as you can.
I'm sure you could find some helpful souls on here and in the back of LRO mag to estimate you a sound repair.
