I was wondering if anyone could let me know if my defender should move if the diff lock is in neutral. And if so, why does mine only move when the diff lock is in high or low range? thanks
 
Neutral is neutral What happens if you put any gearbox in neutral? You need to be in either high or low to have any drive to the wheels. Now where's that thread about daft questions?

if by 'diff lock' you mean the transfer lever, when you have that in neutral you will have no drive, oh don't drive with the diff lock engaged(orange light on the dash should tell you if it is) thats the lever over to the left, it will wreck the transfer box

I think the little gear lever you're talking about is the transfer box selector. It gives you a choice of high or low range plus the ability to lock the centre diff in either high or low. It also has a neutral just like any gearbox. Land Rovers have two gearboxes, the normal 5 speed one and the transfer box. If you're in neutral in either one of them you ain't going anywhere.
