when i put disco in reverse and let the clutch out i'm getting movement on the front diff it will lift up when clutch is let out it will make a bit on noise.

i get a clunk when changing gear if i let the clutch out too fast, but thats due to play in the rear diff and transfer box

When you say lift up, does the nose of the diff pivot upwards abit as in the whole of the axle swivel slightly?

Had a similar problem on a classic and it was the front radius arm bushes being knackered and letting the front axle move as it took up load.

yes it does so you think i need new radius bushes

If you or a mate are feeling in a dangerous mood drive the disco slowly and with the door open hang outside holding to to the seatbelt and look under the door to see if you can visibly see the diff nose movin up and down!

You could probably check the bushes while stationary by looking at it while you put some load through it by lifting the clutch in gear with the handbrake on.

P.s hanging out of the car isn't big or clever

This has to be the most dangerous bit of "advice" I've ever read on here:doh: ... despite the little disclaimer at the end!

you can check bushes with a bar inbetween radius arm and bracket bushes should be springy with no loose movement check the rest while there, and prop ujs and slide
