is this a typical 'bloke in the pub' story or true????

i was assured by this guy (who owns a lightweight) that i can bung defender springs and dampers on the disco (3dr 300tdi) and it will handle a hell of a lot better on the road.

a couple of questions....

is it possible?
does it need any more mods or is it a straight swap?
if it works easily will there be a benefit or is it not noticable?
has anyone done it and been very happy with the result?
