Does a Defender have a brake biasing valve?

My Defender is a 1992 200tdi.

I was doing some heavy braking on a local airfield the other day and found the rears lock up first, which doesn't seem right to me.

Normally you find the biasing valve on the rear axle on transits, etc, but there's nothing on my Defender?

If it's what I think it is then they were only fitted to 90s. Mine was on top the front right chassis rail just under the brake fluid reservoir

Should look into this as mine does the same unless I have weight over the back axle

Back is the primary braking circuit. Maybe you have some air in the secondary circuit on the front?

That sort of biasing (rear locking) is probably normal for a vehicle of this type given that there is not much weight over the rear, even with a working balancing valve, I would have thought that even a moderate resistance on the rear wheels will cause them to lock as the weight and forces shift to the front under heavy braking. I will be interested to see what the experts have to say.

When I have my next mot I am going to get them to overhaul the brakes, they are fine now but I just want them super tip top.

That makes sense to me regarding no weight over the back, as mine doesn't lock the back up when I have a load in (had 500kg of cement bags in the back yesterday and the brakes were absolutely fine - to be fair I wasn't able to go fast enough to over stress them lol!)
