Hi guys and gals this is a longshot but im sure someone else has done this so here goes.
I rebuilt my 90 300tdi onto a TD5 chassis over a year ago, im now in the process of gathering all the body panels (nearside front outer wing, two doorskins, and a rear offside outer wing to be precise) that i need before a full respray in the summer.
The 300tdi tank is fooked so ive got a TD5 tank for obvious reasons with the wing to suit so my question is has anyone found a way of mating the TD5 tank up to a 300tdi engine without too much fuss.
I have not yet removed the 300 tank to compare senders etc, is it possible to use the 300 sender in the td5 tank albeit with modifications so as to keep all the electrics simple and use the lift pump as before, the last thing i want to do is start plumbing a td5 electric fuel pump in as ive heard theyre wnak :)
Thanks for any advice :tea:

Oh its not just me then :)
I was just hoping to extend the pipework and electrics etc but im sure its not that easy, i wont really know until im actually doing the job but was after a few pointers to make the job a bit quicker.
What were your plans for doing the job Albert

Brilliant that sounds like a good option ive just had a quick look on evilbay and theyre cheaper than the defender one :D

I was hoping to just buy a complete setup from a breakers but clearly ill have to make some changes.

James, ive heard about there being a cradle which the tank sits in so it can be bolted to the chassis, is this correct?

yes but you can make your own if it saves cash

The late 300TDi used the TD5 tank in the ROW spec so you can get a 300TDi specific sender that doesn't pump.... I only know because I would like fit a TD5 rear tank to my 300TDi. I've got the exhaust ready but cannot find a TD5 tank at a reasonable price yet.
