I am looking at getting my cam belt changed on my Defender 300tdi,
I have had 4 quotes, My mechanic wants £340, but seems reluctant

I then tried 3 landy specialists, one wanted £225 + vat but if it needs the mod kit, another £100 and he wont know until hes stripped it out.

Another specialist wants £580, provided it not the early unmodified one, then it would be extra.

And finaly West 4x4 who wants £251 total, and when asked about the mod belt etc, he says, all the kits come with the mod parts anyway, so no probs. then says not rocket science done hundreds.

Just done the belt on my 300TDi this weekend (2004 engine, second time I've done it).
Easy enough job to do but I made the decision to buy the correct tools first time round, paid for themselves straight away (bought from Difflock).
