would anyone have an idea as to what ia a good decat pipe and where i could get one ebay not sure of that to many sharks

thats not where the cat is its in the down pipe ,thats a straight thru pipe for removing silencers

Be careful you may loose pressure and you will loose turbo boost and make it slower

All turbos rely on back pressure you will notice it more on a TD5. Does yours have any flat spots when towing or full load?

i dont think turbos rely on back pressure 2 stroke definately but not turbo straight pipe is what we were recommended to fit on tractors for max power ,td5bhave air pressure sensor which gets screwed if boost to high

Well my father in law put a de-cat pipe on his disco TD5 and it now has a flat spot

How do u think turbos work?? I am sure they spin up under pressure or you will have a turbo cut in straight away like a supercharger think you should re think.

no flat spots on mine... seems fine.

I used to have straight through on 2 diesel cars I used to have and never had any problems either, on a Seat Ibiza and a VW Bora

turbo work by taking energy from exhaust gas passing through turbine, turbo cuts in as soon as engine starts and exhaust gas pass through,but below about 1700 revs doesnt push air sufficent(not spinning fast enough) to make alot of difference because turbo would restrict too much exhaust gasses and nullify the extra air delivered, they work better the easier the waste gas can get away hence fitting big bore straight through pipe ,super chargers are positively engine driven through belt or gearing so can forcibly push air into engine from the start

Yeah so as it realises the pressure from the turbo if there is no restriction it will be lost?? If your theory is right why run an exhaust from downpipes at all?

it would fill cab with fumes if you had a tractor or fork lift etc you would just have straight pipe straight up turbos also reduce need for silencers as most of energy has been used in spinning turbo you have to think that a turbo is like those kiddies beach wind mills joined together with a shaft you blow on one it spins the other it needs as free as possible air flow through it

the turbo itself restricts the flow on the exhaust,'cos it's got to spin it up and in turn creates positive pressure for the induction.
