In the process of replacing the strut on the retractable rear step. The nuts spun off fine but I downt seem to be able to budge the strut from the threaded stuids on the step, even with a light tap from a BFH or a bit of leverage. Am I missing something or could they just be seized together with age? Reluctant to use too much force just in case....

Got it off, just had to use a bigger BFH in the end! Taking the whole step off definitely makes it easier.
