Afternoon.
I know that this has been covered before but after a search i still need a bit of clarification?
My tailgate door lock wont stay locked or unlocked!
Ive tried oiling all the mechs and cant find any reason for it, the actuator moves but doesnt seem to stay in any set position. If i hold the lock button on the door up it opens fine and if i hold it down it locks, but as soon as i let go, it goes to a neutral position.
What holds it in a locked or unlocked state?

Check the springs are not broken, there are 2 of them. Here is how I fixed mine.

That may help you? Also remove the badge from the rear door and lubricate behind there as that can cause problems.

The actuator has a small amount of adjustment available, so undo the fixing plate screws and move the plate a few mm, there's a fine line in the actuator locking and un-locking. A symptom of a broken spring is although the door unlocks the door pin drops back down a few mm and so relocking the door.
