Well I think it's about time I changed my cv joint. It's been going now for about 6 months. Getting on my tits now.

Anyone know the size of the hub nut?

Only problem with some sockets is they int deep enough reach and slip off the inner hub nut.

oi pikey you know what i mean its a gert big long thing that you stick a screwdriver through the holes at the end to turn it

that's a box spanner.
problem with them is that you can't use them to set the bearing pre-load properly, unless you weld an old socket to the end of it.

Aye a Box Spanner. But you can get a 52mm socket anorl & it's a bit of a squeeze keeping it on the inner hubnut.

i've seen a box spanner with an half inch sq drive plate welded to the end of it. think it were on Difflocks site.

it looks fook all like a spanner ! been usin one this afternoon ! but i bow down to trewey and pikeys greatness :D:D

Got it all done. No horrid noise anymore.
But I did a shed load of pins in there. They look like the needle bearings from the cv joint.
And I found that the swivel housing seals need replacing soon. Bugger. Thanks for the info guys
