Has anyone got any ideas how to build a 12V current controller to vary between 0 and 10 amps?

does the output voltage need to be stable under load or variable?

The project is the use of a Nissan X-trail rear diff and 2/4wd unit in the back of a Hippoo - all I know at the mo is that the 4WD ECU provides a signal to the 'VCU' which is controlled by current (not volts). I did post the details on here somewhere, I will see if I can find them, although a Hippoo wouldnt need proportional 4WD - a simple 2wd/4wd switch would do the job.

i'd be very supprised if any car control system worked on a variable current signalling, especially that sort of ampage - even cooling the output of a 12v/10A variable current source would require something more than just passive ventalation - but then if the voltage didnt need to be stable across the load a very heavy duty nicad charger could probably be modified to suit
ok that sorta makes sense - the LF411 is just an op amp and looks to be configured as some form of exponential amp - what makes you think you needed a variable current controller, or did i read it too quick

i actually have two methods of controlling it electronically. We have one that is a 12V pump setup which can be PWM modulated. I got it setup in my car and i wasnt pleased with the complexity of it... I think its a little too much overkill, so i have spent the last two weeks designing a new setup that is very simple and clever, which uses current to control it. Ill hopefully have that up and running by SEMA, its the last piece of designwork."
