Have been looking for a Refrigerator that will fit in place of cubby box in my Defender. Not huge capacity, 26 litres or so. Saw the ideal one on APB trading but now out of stock, non due until month end. Anybody done this already or can recommend a source?

you could quite easily convert a cubby box into a fridge. if you insulated it internally and isntalled the peltier panel out of a cheap electric cool box

what about a 12v/240v coolbox so you can take it with you when you get out

i find most of the lil 12v peltier ones to be useless.

if its only for keeping yer can of coke cold it'd do the job

no idea who made ours, bought it from Halfords around 18 years ago, keeps everything well chilled practically as good as a fridge, will keep stuff warm too. Easily holds picnic for 5 including plenty of drinks must be around 40l

don't leave it plugged in without the ignition on cos yer battery won't last long, will keep food cold for ages when switched off too

can also use it to keep food hot too, has a warm setting, iirc it was over £100 back then

only drawback is it is 12v only

Thanks for comments above. Am looking for something to keep food cool for 2-3 days at a time. ( Run off a split charge leisure battery) This is for my son's 110 when he goes climbing and touring around Scotland.
The Halford ones look a possibility but lacking dimensions on line!

ive got a proper 3 way fridge in mine for when we go away. They are the best of all worlds which are not much more expensive than just a 12v thing.

Hi Vilguy, yes that was an option, but the back of the landy has been converted to provide a double sleeping area over the wheel arches with storage for climbing gear beneath, so space is at a premium.

couple of ideas. if you are any good at fabrication, then either shove the climbing stuff in side lockers or cut a hole in the arches and drop a fridge in.

as mentioned previous post these thermoelectric types kill batteries, ok with engine running but then you need to go onto mains , as soon as stopped. They are using close to having halogen spotlight on . HTSH
