My viscous has become siezed, I suspect all the muddy water has taken its toll. Anyway was simply going to wire in a spare electric fan that I have and remove the viscous.
But after a conversation today with someone who breaks discos and range rovers he reckons that I should stick with the viscous because an electric one is not upto the job and would not work after its 1st dunking.
What is everyone elses thoughts???? :-k :-k :-k

a lot of us run electric fans with no problems. Wire it up so that it can be turned off when going dunking - and have it thermostatically switched.

I aint got a Sid Vicious nor an electric alternative on mine, no overheating at all.

Not entirely true. I run a 3.9 RRC, no overheating so far using electric fans. No problems after taking it swimming.

Ran my disco for 5 years without a fan! No over heating. Son is still running it with 123k on the clock so doesn't seem to have had any ill effects. Started doing this in 1963 on Triumph Herald and subsequent cars. Used to carry the fan in the boot just in case but never had to use it. Can always switch on the car heater if engine is getting a little warm. Probably wouldn't do it if I did a lot of towing
Get 3 mpg better fuel consumption in Disco without it.
