Hi all,

I noticed a slight leak of what looks like anti freeze/coolant. Dripping from somewhere under roughlyu where the radiator is, difficult to see because dark and rainy.

I checked the header tank and it looks OK, so not a major leak.

I have however also noticed (and it might just be me being paranoid) a slight downturn in power and pull when acceleratring.

I am wondering if it might be something to do with the turbo or intercooler.

I have a rad muff fitted but it does not cover in front of the interccoler mini radiator, I plan to remove that tomorrow.

can anyone offer any advice on what I might check?

I confess to knowing a big fat zero about turbos, and I dont even know what the intercooler mini radiator is for or what it has in it.

The intercooler cools the air from the turbo before it goes in the motor and has nothing to do with cooling the engine its self. Check the rad,hose,[top and bottom] water pump.

It'll be a case of checking the rad under favourable conditions to see if you have a leak of some kind, until then it's guess work. If it is a problem with the rad, it won't effect power though, so that'll be a seperate issue.

The Intercooler ( the small rad ) is designed to cool the air from the turbo before it reaches the cylinders, cooler air = better response = better mpg and a happier engine.

The air comes from the vent on your NS wing > Airfilter > Turbo > Intercooler > Inlet manifold > Engine.

Can you elaborate on the loss of power more?

The 19J which was the before the 200Tdi ( which you have ) had no intercooler and suffered problems,not just to do with no intercooler, but it was a contributing factor.

thanks for the replies, found a leak on the radiator, will try to sela with radweld, or failing that change the rad - so that is a separate problem

regarding the power loss, i am not sure if it is just me but it just doesnt quite feel like it has the pull it used to, although I can hit 65-70 without any probs

I would just liek to know for my own benefit if there is any way I can tell if the turbo is working properly as it is an area I dont really understand
