Anyone used checker plate to replace rear windows on a D1 ? Put one of my through on a tree ?

Was wondering if best to fit plate into the window rubber or fasten straight into gap using sikaflex or something

any one tried it before ? theres a bewildering amount of different sikaflex out there as well. anyone recommend right sort ?

I got a mate who's done his alpine windows and rear side windows, doesnt look the prettiest but is functional and does the job! He's sacked the rubbers off but not sure how he's fastened them on, I would imagine rivets and sikaflex to keep it all waterproof.
