My 1996 4.6 HSE on LPG with only 40,000 on the clock keeps showing the Check Engine warning in yellow on the dash. It is intermittent, but once on stays on. The guy who put my gas system in says it is to do with the fuel flow and when on pushes extra fuel into the engine. Can anyone tell me why it comes on, does something need replacing?

the guy who fitted your gas system is full of ****!

When running on gas, the injectors are turned off so no petrol gets in, the parts that control this, if poorly fitted can cause the light to come on

you have an emission related engine management fault and it needs to be connected to t4 at a dealer to find out whats happening, could be a wiring fault or a sensor failure but untill the fault codes are read, you're not going to know

Thanks will get my garage to check out the fault codes

Clutchdust,I like your initial comment - fits alot of LPG installers,(not all though) Sounds like they dont really understand how it works.

I have a classic on gas and it does exactly the same, it is going in tomorrow to a gas chap to hopefully have it sorted. Will let you know what happens.
