Whats the cheapest way to get a 4.1 final drive on my Disco td5? Any suggestions?
Maybe swap out your 1.22 transfer box for a 1.4 ratio transfer box ala Defender? OK it doesn't alter low box but it will reduce high box by around 9%
Just an idea.

Hmm , will that work with horribly oversize tyres?
How horribly?
A ratio change from 1.22 down to 1.41 is a 13.4% reduction (my maths was wrong earlier), equivalent of fitting 235/85 R16 and having same gearing, maybe +/-3% lower

Well I might have a chance of some 305/75/16's so yes it is pretty horrible.
