I am in the process of rebuilding my 110 and I have used a td5 chassis modified to take a 300tdi, the fuel pump is in the tank on the td5 so can I blank off the mechanical pump on the 300tdi engine and run it on the electric one in the tank?

i'd much rather use the mechanical one

Not sure that the TD5 pump is high enough pressure.
Imjector pressure on the TD5 is generated within the injector by lobes on the cam.

Nah use the mechanical one, the TD5 pump is different with return lines and all sorts.
