Hi all,

Disco 1 MOT failure, failed on a few things, but one of these trying to identify is the following:

  • Central Front Upper Suspension arm ball joint dust cover no longer prevents the ingress of dirt (5.3.4 (b) (ii))
Is this the A Frame ball joint? I always thought this was more towards the rear of the vehicle, not the front? If this was the arms, this would surely be classed as a nearside or offside?

Thanks for your help.

It would appear so.
Yes the A frame is at the rear of the vehicle, but the ball ball joint is central at the front of the frame. The only ball joint that is at the centre of the disco.
As with any ball joint dust cover, its failure its an MOT fail.

It requires a hefty press to remove, so often replacing the whole fulcrum bracket with new BJ pre installed, is easier at home
