I have what I think is a problem very familiar to this forum, my Mk1 TD4 starts fine when cold and with great difficulty when hot. Having read through the previous posts I decided to embark on a process of elimination, starting with the camshaft position sensor. I read and took note about the previous history and versions of this part. The part I ordered is titled "Land Rover Freelander TD4 / Range Rover TD6 Camshaft Sensor" number 8510297 / NSC100890.

Costing £48 it came today and took 10 mins to fit, now the car won't start at all. replaced the old one and the car starts fine !!! So either I have bought the wrong part or it's a dud. The problem is which one ???

Every search I have done suggests the one I got should be OK. I did read somewhere that there could be some jiggery pokery to do with ecu to get it to recognise the sensor, but from what I understand the part number I have should be fit and forget. In the absence of any further clues I assume it must be a dud,?
