Well the Drivers side manifold has the common crack in it ............ It's currently dismantled so easier to just replace.?
But can't find a place that sells new ?
So was thinking .... Repair. ?
Replace with New?
Or get one from fleabay etc ..
Or poss breakers yard ?

P38 4.6HSE 1998 ...
Advice welcome

Island 4x4 have the LH at £200 but no RH. Rimmers are showing no stock.

I would go for one from a scrappies, but check it for cracks first OR Ebay..again ak the question "Is it 100% sound".

Mine cracked a few years ago and I replaced it with one from Ebay and it has been fine.

It always seems to be the RH that cracks more so than the LH.

I have got stainless tubular manifolds if intrested? And the Y piece £200.
Not far from you either.

Hi Thanks for your replies.
I spent hours looking for a new pattern part. Nope .. no luck ......
RGB, called them ... Asked me to call back as they wanted to answer the phone ??????? Wtf . Tried many times just rang out ......
Tried Range Rover spares up north, one on stock , I asked if in good condition?. I was told yup does not blow £40 inc postage..... So should be delivered tomorrow. ...

See how we go, I may take up the stainless tube option if this fails ...

BTW, yes they can be repaired, hassle to post off, then get quoted, then gettin it back etc....

Mine was cracked around the joints, furthest from the manifold that bolts on, more than a crack, a few mil wide, will post a picture, and it was all around the weld, hidden due to the heat shields

Mine cracked in the same place it dont weld up properly
i had a look on ebay at people braking p38s and message them see if they still have it most will as most will sell the engine with them still on and as its failed engines that causes most p38s to be broke you stand a good chance of finding one

Used manifold arrived this morning from Range Rover Breakers, in Timsbury, prompt delivery all in for £40 ... Inc the two heat shields.....
Being fitted tonight ... Fingers crossed

That's a good price !!

Just a couple of tips....Make sure you put the manifold to head gaskets on the right way round as they can partially obstruct the ports. Also replace the heat shield bolts with either stainless or brass and give them a smear of anti sieze (Copper grease or similar) on the threads before refitting them-I think the threads are M5 or M6.

Fortunately my mate is a mechanic, so he fitted it , he called to say all done , ...
Picking up tomorrow, will give feed back on the job .....
.btw I did note on fleabay, some of the prices seemed ok ..
