Is there a general opinion on the quality of Britpart bits? Are there any other brands that are of a better quality? Thanks

britpart is a wholesaler it sells a range of parts ,try adding g after part number as this will mean an oem part so good quality, they do sell cheap pattern but thats pot luck quality wise from britpart or any other supplier

Some of their own brand bits have been found to be poor quality. I have had to replace clutch and brake cylinders less than a year after installation. Plenty of horror stories on here. I would advise using genuine parts for critical brake and engine components. There are plenty of genuine parts for sale on eBay etc.

I've bought a lot of Britpart trim items and found them to be fine. Not sure who makes them, but the Britpart techno cloth seat base for instance is £55, 20% the price of the LR original.
It looks the same, and after parking my bum on one for 16,000 miles l can report that it still looks the same as the LR original passenger side one and has no visible wear.

Ive just replaced the front wheel cylinders on the 88 and used the cheapo britpart ones as my supplier had nowt else on the shelf, stripped them down and stuck some rubber grease in there to stop pistons seizing, which is what happened to the originals, I was surprised the find the seals were actually nicely moulded and even.

i use them (bp) especially for timken bearings ,id think all the wholesalers get their cheap pattern parts from the same factory as they do with oe and branded etc

Agree with all of the above. All 3 brands (britpart, bearmach and allmakes) aftermarket range seem to be of similar quality, luck of the draw really regarding if the part is any good or not. For me personally with my experience, anything safety critical, or anything thats a ball ache to do the job twice, i try and fit OEM if available.
For instance, i got my dad a new one way valve for the brake servo. His old one wasnt holding the vacuum in the servo (20 years service), so after looking online genuine land rover was £25 for replacement part. Bearmach wanted £4/5. So i bought the bearmach one thinking what could go wrong, very simple part.
After a week of it being fitted, the part snapped in half ... disconnecting the vacuum pump from the servo, guessing due to engine vibrations and very weak fragile plastic. Could have been nasty in a emmergency situation.
Genuine land rover part since fitted, been on there a while now with no problems, and will probably last another 20 years.

Some Britpart stuff is fine, bumpers, springs, wheels, stuff like that.
Engine parts, brakes, anything important or a pain to fit, I would go OEM.

Wouldn't touch anything that company makes, distributes, or resells, with someone else's barge pole.
