I had a failure on the plastic plug and fortunately I was near B&Q who sold a brass one £1.80

But it never came with a washer although seems to be ok.

Do people on here use a washer or not?

It should have a rubber sealing ring. I sell a set of 2 for £3 which includes the hot bleed valve.
Yu can use PTFE tape, but it isn't ideal.
Does yours have a top flange or not?

if it failed while driving i should check rad is hot all across core
