Hi All, anyone got any ideas/ experience of a TD5 brake system that refuses to bleed? Replaced a caliper and discs all round, got a pressure one man brake bleeder on there and absolutlly no fluid coming out the end of the pipe. Master cylinder perhaps?
 
I wasn't aware that the Td5 was ever fitted with brakes.
Td5 is an engine type. Defender and Discovery were the vehicle fitted with that engine. It can help to know which vehicle you're talking about, some of the pipework runs are different.

YEP good point ,sorry. Its a 2002 disco. WABCO pump and mostly Lockeed calipers pipes etc.
 
If you've got the WABCO, you'll probably need to activate it to get the fluid through. There's something about this in the RAVE manual as I recall. You'll probably need, a Nanocom, Lynx or similar.

Thanks guys, done the usual bleeding technique. On and off for 24 hours, just absolutely no fluid when I disconnect the flexible brake hose thqt I have replaced along with the calliper. Therefore given in that time span even gravity let alone pressurising with the brake bleed kit should have produced some fluid when the pedal gets pumped; The main question is, do I replace the master cylinder or is it possible that the WABCO is holding the fluid back? Given that all the work has been down stream of the pump. Dont have a computer kit but have heard that its possible to bridge the relay connections to run the WABCO independantly. Thanks for any advice

slacken one of the outlet pipes on master cylinder,get someone to press the pedal and hold pedal down till you retighten then repeat if you get fluid try the same at the other if you get fluid there try the same at the feed to modulator, then each of the 4 outlets on the modulator, by tighten before pedal is let up you ensure you dont introduce air, if you get fluid there try again at the calipers

the important thing is to close the pipe union before letting the pedal up just repeat till you get fluid then work your way along
 
Will do, its the first time I have used a one man bleed kit. Always gone for the traditional method so maybe just expecting to much from it. Just a bit worried that no fluid has appeared. Clamped the pipes etc when I worked on the circuit.
 
i still use the traditional method ,if it doesnt work you know you have an issue somewhere that needs sorting
 
Thanks James. Its just the Wabco /ABS bit that is giving me a bit of doubt. Will let you know tommorow thanks for the reply.
