I know this is an age old question, but the search button has lead me to find absolutely nothing.

Where should a boost gauge be tapped into in the engine bay?

post turbo air intake pipe, some egr bypasses (mine included) have a spigot for such a purpose, although as I don't have a boost gauge, it remains blanked off.

some of the 'bypass' units have a blanked-off spigot to where the 'unused' vacuum hose
can be attached .. in order to blank off the hose at that point ..
be easy to drill a hole in the same spigot 'n use it as a boost-gauge source ..

however .. one can aquire a 'scangaugeII' ..

plug it into the diagnostics socket permanently .. and read the boost-pressure off that
it reads the MAP sensor output .. so you get absolute manifold pressure in psi or bar
i.e. ambient air pressure plus the boost pressure ..
( ambient air pressure being around 14 psi at sea level )

Do you need to tap into the pipe between the;
1. Turbo and the waste gate,,
2. somewhere on the EGR or its pipework,,

I have seen both methods used but I don't know what one is best
for the Freelander to work..
