Well, read all the posts on this & got one on ebay for £3 delivered in 2 days....(why hasn`t anyone mentioned what a **** it is trying to get the valve off)? After busting my allen key I decided to just fit the plate in the easiest joint to get at on the flexy pipe- the `Y` branch off from the top turbo hose. I cannot believe the instant improvement in acceleration & top speed- fantastic!!!. I will report back on the mpg after a tank full.

What are the issues with the MOT? Will it fail the emissions with the plate in or will I have to take it out before the test?

Would you be able to take a couple of piccies, to show us where the EGR valve is at? Just bought a 300TDi and am waiting for my Haynes!

i didnt fit a blanking plate just seperated the pipe in between thr egr valve and the air box and stuck a screw in the end of the pipe on the egr end works wonders

just disconnect the throttle position sensor, it will stop the egr from working (egr only works when engine is warm and throttle is open).

simply plug it back in come mot time

Ah yes, the pain of getting it off in the first place... well I found a small hammer and about 50 very light taps did the trick.
