Well I have a Disco 2 with running boards covered in some kind of rubber/plastic top liner. For ages when I wear shorts people have commented about the black stuff on the back of my calfs. It was not too concerned because when I have my annual bath I washed it off.
Now that I am part retired I decided to fix this and found the black stuff was coming from the surface of these running board covers. It was not road dirt it was from the covers themselves.

So I washed the covers let them dry and painted them with Screwfix no nonsense floor varnish. It has worked a treat. If others have this issue give it a go. I had the floor varnish so no cost involved.

This will actually save me money as I can now switch my bath to bi annual

It's the black stuff on the back of your pigs and chickens I'd like to hear about!
And furthermore @Turboman will know what may be the problem wif them there calves, wif the black on 'em.

Not a doctor, I mostly do animals. Maybe one for @sorea or @Dippypud .

My own strictly amateurish advice would be that it might be some kind of residue leaching from the plastic coating on the running boards. It could be plasticisers, which I believe can be carcinogenic, so it might be an idea for OP to keep a careful eye on his skin, and report to his GP if he suspects anything unusual.

Other excellent medical advice is available, and I would suggest that one and all treat any suggestions I might make as complete bullsh!t.

:eek::oops:
You may want to rethink that!
Yes....each one to their own and all that.
That being said, many years ago, got into an altercation with a drunk scotsman at a bar once, and he was yelling at the top of his voice, "I'm gonna DO YOU", you can imagine what that sounded like, he could barely stand, I mainly felt embarrassment at what the rest of the crowd might think, (not guilty yer honour), seeing as I was being accused as one that had stolen his girlfriend, (not guilty yer honour, once again), I doubt he was even going to be able to "do" her when she came back from wherever she had gone, he was so pi55ed.
I've always been a bit cautious about the use of the words since.

any khunt can see what the problem is .....................you're bathing too often :rolleyes:
