It looks like 3 door TD4 "S" that is fitted with 17" rims.
Much more is difficult to see from the pictures.

what kit do you get with an 'S'? Is that the poverty model?
Basic S model is one up from the poverty model.
It'll have unheated cloth seats. A single CD head unit. No power fold mirrors, although they will be electric in operation and be headed. You need to check for a headed front screen as that was optional on all models.
Keep in mind that it could have options fitted, but mostly basic models, remain option free.

Thanks Nodge, would it have HDC as standard at that age? or was it only optional on the pre-facelift version?

Suggest your first offer should be a Mars bar and a quarter of dolly mixtures. If it's a no go, up it to those plus a quarter of Midget Gems (no black ones). If he is still underwhelmed add some black Midget Gems that should sort it. :D:D

The car is taxed and has a current m.o.t. No model designation is being reported, you'd have to pay for that:(
Looks nice, but it's quite easy to polish a turd. Can't make any details out in those photos, but I'd be checking the tyres first. They don't look matched, but it's really hard to make out.

I know bit annoying if i go for it I'd HPI it beforehand anyway, the mot history check brings up some interesting things to in the past but nowt serious( brake pipe IIRC) , glad you've notices that ( I would of when i got there) but slightly annoying that I've just put 4 new tyres on mondeo he's interested in at £345  so cash my way to sweeten the deal might be in order if things go ahead to cover those expenses

Well bloke finally emailed back after catching him and it's going no further..

And I quote:...

"propshaft is fine, it's in the garage as the car does more mpg but you don't need it fitted until winter anyway"

Cough **Bullsh1t** Cough :mad::mad:

So the search continues...

That old chestnut.
You could ask him to fit the props so you can test drive it.

At 120k miles the drive train should be OK (probably), there are a lot of people who really believe they get better mpg without it. If your still interested check the VCU can be turned with a couple of crow bars in the knuckles, if it turns at all then you should be sweet (even if it takes a lot of force)
I know mismatched tyres will shorten the life of the VCU but since 99.9% of Freelanders have mismatched tyres after the first tyre change, I don't believe the issue is quite as catastrophic as sometimes suggested.

Thanks gents I'll bear that in mind on crowbars, half the issue is I want something I can just jump in and use straight off the bat as I havnt got my tools freely available currently ue to house move, may stick the mondeo up for sale soon on ebay ( not thats its worth much as i clipped the rear quarter on the garden wall t'other night:mad:) and go proper hippo hunting with cash in my hands instead of rely on swappers

Gone off this one cuz I cant get any more info out of the owner n can't be bothered with chasing him
