Hi guys,

I need some advice, i am currently under going a rebuild and having to change the chassis, now then i ideally want to buy a galv chassis and replace brand new, but with concerns over cost i was just wondering, i have found some very well priced and good condition 2nd hand chassis, just wondering if anyone knows just how much more of a head ache it is to use a 2nd hand chassis rather than a brand new one? Ive also seent hem advertised 2nd hand with "No ID" is this desired? what can i check? any help would be great! Cheers!

its a bit dodgy if it doesn't have ID, your vehicle should take on the identity of that chassis but then again there will be many who have done it this way :p

I think so, mainly to see if the chassis hasn't been stolen or anything

although as said plenty of people do it the other way

There are rules about how you use a chassis from another vehicle and how to change things over and all sorts, it is a bit of a grey area.

Basically, if the chassis has NO reg docs, then where it come from, and why is a perfectly good chassis being sold? What happened to the vehicle? Why are there no docs?

Another acceptable form of proof would be a receipt from a chassis supplier but then make sure the new chassis has no VIN stamped into it, and most replacement chassis are galv so more alarm bells in my eyes.

However, don't treat them all with suspicion, there are sometimes reasonable explanations.
