Hi,
My 90 has started to smell bad!!Once the engine gets warm, the smell starts. Its like antifreeze and a mix of hot smouldering rubber!!
I've checked the radiator fluid levels and they seem fine. I've checked the oil to see if there's water there, just incase the head had gone, thats fine. But I can't think of anywhere else to look? any ideas anyone?

Could be the water pump not working, and the engine getting too hot, or the water pump bearings overheating, is there play in the water pump?

My 300 disco did the same thing a while ago. Seemed like the steering wheel was on fire with what looked like smoke coming out. Realised it was steam when I could smell the hot antifreeze. Assumed a leak somewhere in the heater matrix and chucked some radweld in. Went away after a couple of days but you can still smell burning antifreeze a little bit. that didn't appear to be losing water either. Don't know about the burning rubber though! Leaking hose?

it dunt take much of a leak in the heater matrix to be able to smell it.
might be ages before you notice the water level goin down.
